By filtering your on-time performance and other metrics by time of day, you’ll discover what’s going on in your network, hour by hour, so you can meet the challenges of peak travel, weather events, and more.
Why is time-of-day filtering important to network performance?
You face penalties for early and late running. The need to meet targets means it’s more important than ever to deliver punctual and reliable transport across your network. By implementing targeted, data-driven improvements, you’ll positively impact your financial bottom line and better serve your passengers.
Time-of-day filtering is a way to investigate customer complaints, identify routes and corridors that are consistently underperforming at specific times, and start to correct these hidden reasons for underperformance.
These reasons may include:
- On and off-peak times (performance may be significantly degraded during peak)
- Traffic events (one-off or regular traffic events impact punctuality, like roadworks)
- Weather events (bad weather may lead to cancellations or degrade punctuality and reliability)
You can filter the whole product to show insights for the day and times that are important to you. Without being able to slice your schedule data by time of day, you would never know the cause of this poor performance - and you wouldn’t be able to fix it.
How can I use the time-of-day filter to improve my network KPIs?
We’ve made it possible for you to filter your network data right down to half-hour intervals. Simply navigate to the new global filter hub, open the time range tab, and choose your desired dates and times.
You can also filter by operator and/or service, and use the new exclusions feature within the date range tab to exclude certain days from your analysis. You may wish to remove public holidays or weekends to better understand trends.
Armed with time-of-day data, you are prepared to better respond to complaints and start making a range of interventions, whether these are through infrastructure improvements, timetable optimisation, or staffing strategies.
Happy filtering!
