Snapper Services Limited, the company best known for pioneering tap-on, tap-off public transport ticketing in Wellington, confirms rising adoption of its leading transit intelligence platform, Mosaiq Insights, in Australia and New Zealand. With around 100% growth year-on-year, the Mosaiq Transit Intelligence Suite marks a new chapter for a company that has spent close to two decades building technology for the public transport sector.

Mosaiq Insights turns transit data, such as GPS positioning, into a single, evidence-based view of how a transport network is performing. Launched in 2023, the platform now processes more bus data than any other solution on the market, ingesting over 12 billion GPS pings a month from public transport operators and authorities across more than 30 countries, with teams based in New Zealand, the UK, and Europe.

While Mosaiq has built much of its scale internationally, it is already delivering measurable value closer to home. In March 2026, Kinetic, New Zealand's largest bus operator, was awarded all four units of Auckland Transport's Tranche 3 tender, a NZ$755 million contract and Kinetic's largest in Auckland to date. Kinetic named Mosaiq in its bid as a core part of how it would manage the network under the contract's stricter new performance regime, integrating Auckland Transport data, vehicle tracking and scheduling information into one operational picture.

Following the award, Auckland Transport specifically highlighted the technology approach Kinetic had proposed during feedback sessions held with all bidders.

“Auckland Transport had a very high preference for technology solutions. They're looking at operators that can support a network and do that through technology, efficiently and quickly and accurately,” said Paul Marr, Commercial Analyst at Kinetic. “It [Mosaiq] gives us an independent source of data to verify operational performance and support conversations with Auckland Transport when needed.”

The news follows Snapper Services' win in the Technology category at the Wellington Gold Awards in July 2026 for Mosaiq, recognition the company also received in 2010 for its original ticketing technology.

“Every improvement to a bus network means more people choosing public transport. That's how we make cities better,” said Miki Szikszai, CEO of Snapper Services. “We're proud of our ticketing heritage, and Mosaiq is where we see the biggest opportunity to support New Zealand's transport network next. Kinetic's experience shows the value is already real, not theoretical.”

Snapper says its focus over the coming year is on working with New Zealand and Australian operators and authorities to apply the same data-driven approach already in use at Kinetic, as well as with more transit authorities internationally.
